Exterra Carbon Solutions today announced it will now operate as Exterra Technologies, a name that reflects the full scope of the proprietary mineral processing platform the company has built over the past three years.
Decarbonization remains central to Exterra’s work, but the platform now extends well beyond carbon to address the full economic and environmental constraints that keep critical mineral projects from being built. By enabling the circular use of key chemical inputs, Exterra’s technology helps deliver lower operating costs, lower waste, and more resilient processing - unlocking projects that legacy flowsheets often leave stranded.
This evolution is accompanied by the launch of a new visual identity and redesigned website, created to clearly communicate Exterra’s positioning as global pressure intensifies on the supply of critical and strategic minerals essential to electrification and the energy transition.
One platform. Many metals.
Exterra’s platform is designed to be adapted into repeatable processing solutions across commodities, helping advance mineral projects that face cost pressure, waste constraints, and increasing expectations around environmental performance and social acceptability.
Exterra’s flagship project in Québec, Hub I, is advancing as a first commercial reference for this platform. Hub I will transform legacy asbestos mine tailings into industry-leading low-carbon mineral products and demonstrate a repeatable blueprint for deploying Exterra’s technologies at scale, in Québec and internationally.
“We’re evolving to reflect what Exterra has become. We’ve built a technology company with a mineral processing platform that goes far beyond carbon - helping mining companies design the next generation of processing plants that are more efficient, more resilient, and lower impact. Exterra Technologies signals our ambition to scale this platform globally and help accelerate the production of critical minerals,” said Olivier Dufresne, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Exterra Technologies.
Strategic collaboration at the core of the brand evolution
To support this transformation, Exterra Technologies partnered with two strategic firms offering complementary expertise. ORFÉ led the brand strategy, art direction, and digital experience, while NATIONAL Public Relations provided strategic advisory services to help structure and amplify the company’s narrative among its key stakeholders. This collaboration made it possible to unify science, vision, and communication into a clear, credible, and contemporary language that reflects the depth of Exterra Technologies’ platform.
“Exterra was undergoing a genuine shift in positioning. Our role was to translate this technological maturity into a clear, structured, and future-oriented brand universe. The new Exterra Technologies digital platform was designed as a strategic positioning and outreach tool, offering a fluid and educational experience supported by 3D animations that make complex scientific processes accessible,” mentioned Timotey A. Lachance, Vice President, Strategy, ORFÉ.
“The new platform clearly aligns Exterra Technologies’ strategic narrative with its ambitions. The website now fully highlights the mineral processing dimension of its offering, while placing CO₂ sequestration in its proper context. It has become a key lever to strengthen the company’s credibility and support its growth,” added Michel Lacroix, Vice-President, NATIONAL.
The launch of this new digital platform also supports the company’s engagement with industrial, institutional, and government partners by ensuring greater alignment between its positioning, technological expertise, and communications. As a reminder, Olivier Dufresne was named CEO of the Year in the Startup category by Les Affaires in November 2025.

About Exterra Technologies
Exterra Technologies is a Québec-based mining technology company developing next-generation mineral processing solutions that enable producers to bring critical minerals to market faster, at lower cost, and with a reduced environmental footprint. Where it creates value, Exterra can also integrate carbon mineralization by converting CO₂ into stable mineral carbonates.
Its technology platform enables the circular regeneration and re-use of key chemical inputs, reducing reagent costs and volatility while lowering waste streams and tailings compared to conventional processing routes. Designed for global deployment, the platform is built on repeatable flowsheet development and a scalable technology licensing model.
Backed by a team with more than 150 cumulative years of experience in mine and process development, including 14 mines built and operated, Exterra is helping modernize mineral processing to strengthen the resilience of critical minerals supply chains.
